Record engine log on YDEG-04

Recording an engine log records the exact data the YDEG-04 is seeing on its J1939 engine interface. The recordings created aid Yacht Devices support in determining what data is available, how the engines are transmitting the data, and debugging issues.

To record a log, please copy the file to a MicroSD card of 32gb or smaller. You will need to make sure the filename doesn't get changed. It should be YDEG.TXT, but if you're on a Windows computer, Windows may hide the file extension so it may just show up as YDEG, but the icon should be a notepad which indicates the correct name. When you insert the card into the gateway, you should get three green blinks from the LED, that indicates the file was correctly read.

Once you get the three green blinks start the engines and let them run for 5-10 minutes. You can then shut down the engines, wait about 30 seconds, eject the card and put it back in a computer. If the recording was successful, you will see files named YDEGXXX.CAN (where XXX is a sequential numeric started at 001). Now, the files can be copied off the card and emailed to Yacht Devices support.
